2-1: UD Almería Women celebrate first win at home
The Rojiblancas beat direct rivals La Solana with goals from Marisa and Eva Ortiz that clinched the match for the hosts.
UD Almería Women achieved a new victory within Grupo Sur of the Segunda Division RFEF, the first win celebrated at the Emilio Campra Youth Stadium this season as they beat direct rivals La Solana. The Indálicas relied on a complete dominance and goals from Marisa and Eva Ortiz clinched the game for the hosts. It was after the 2-0 when the visitors pulled one back, but without ever giving the impression that the three points were going to be bagged by them.
From the off it was clear that the Rojiblancas were fully determined to get the three points of the day. In the first 20 minutes, several threatening situations from the Almerienses had already been experienced, highlighting a fine effort by Lorena from the edge of the box that crashed into the post. Half-time was reached at 0-0, although after the restart UD Almería gained momentum. With 58 minutes on the clock, Jessi latched onto the ball and handed over possession to Marisa, who fired emphatically past the keeper (1-0).
Despite having gone ahead, the Indálicas continued approaching the opposite area. The minutes went by with both sides getting to work trying to unlock each other’s defences until inside 81 minutes, Eva Ortiz —who had just came on— stabbed it home after receiving a well-timed pass from Lorena. Immediately afterwards, La Solana girls pulled one back through Paula Tur, but UD Almería Women knew how to do things perfectly to celebrate their first home victory of the season (2-1).
