UD Almería Women players Jessi and Paqui Campoy have been crowned European champions with the Spanish beach soccer national team after defeating hosts Italy 4–3 in a thrilling extra-time final of the Euro Beach Soccer League in Viareggio, Italy.

The UDA girls have spent just over a week representing Spain in beach soccer, first taking part in a training camp in El Toyo, Almería, before competing in the continental tournament, where both played a key role.

Spain got off to a difficult start in the European Superfinal, losing 2–1 to Italy in the group stage. However, a 4–1 victory over Poland secured Spain’s place in the semi-finals, where they defeated Portugal 5–2.

In the final, Spain once again faced the host nation, Italy, and secured a spectacular 4–3 victory after an enthralling period of extra time.

Following this latest success with the Spanish beach soccer national team, Jessi and Paqui Campoy will now return to UD Almería to rejoin the squad.
