0-1: A defensive lapse cost UD Almería 'B' dear against pacesetters

Real Jaén scored the match-winning goal just before half-time. Although the UD Almería prospects fought vigorously, they were unable to hit the counter

Despite trying their hardest until the final whistle, UD Almería 'B' were unable to win over Real Jaén. A defensive lapse by Sala cost the hosts dear (0-1) as they suffered their second back-to-back defeat.

The visitors created the most chances over the course of the opening 45 minutes. Shortly after starting, Real Jaén were close to taking the lead and scuffed a chance blocked by goalie Obón. In the 14th minute, Adri Paz tried to beat the hosts goalkeeper through a low driven shot, but it went just wide. In the following play, it would be the youthful Indalicos the ones who had the option of scoring the opening goal; Lokosa tried his luck with a strike that went away by Javi Sánchez's left post.

Manu Obón was outstanding in the first half when denying all the efforts by the boys from Jaén. With 28 minutes gone, the keeper made a save that prevented his team from conceding the first goal. Unfortunately, when the footballers were about to head down the tunnel at half-time, Real Jaén's match-winning goal arrived; Antonio López took advantage of a defensive mistake by Sala to later put it past the Rojiblanco' keeps.

The second part started somewhat better for the UDA products who were much more active in attack and creating danger with several threatening situations, but lacking the cutting edge. In the 67th minute, Álex finished off a header from a corner-kick, but it went wide. Within 72 minutes, a solo run by Pedro triggered a powerful shot from outside the area, although it would go over the visitors' crossbar. A couple of minutes later, the youthful Rojiblancos spurned a chance with a free-kick that Longonda booted, but he would not find the back of the net.

Even though the lads from Almería fought vigorously, they just could not find their way. Pacesetters Real Jaén managed to block all the efforts by Óscar Fernández's youth team, who was left without points for the second game in a row.
