Babić makes Serbia squad debut at Qatar World Cup

The UD Almería defender has gone from strength to strength, from playing in the Spanish Segunda Division to competing in a World Cup in 6 months

The 26-year-old defender has played in a World Cup for the first time ever. After not participating in Serbia's defeat to Brazil, Babić has played 20 minutes in the second match of his national team in Qatar.

The Rojiblanco footballer came on in the 77th minute, substituting Veljkovic, and doing his best in the hard-fought three-all draw with Cameroon. Serbia, with one point, are the last within Group G, which Brazil and Switzerland lead with three points each, followed by Cameroon also with only one point.

The next meeting of the Balkans will be played on Friday at 8pm (CET) against Switzerland.

Srđan Babić arrived at UD Almería in the summer of 2021 on loan from Red Star Belgrade. This season, the Club offered him a permanent deal as a Rojiblanco after becoming one of the key players in their promotion to the top flight.

The Banja Luka native defender has played a total of 53 fixtures for UD Almería, scoring 2 goals. Babić, who was born in Bosnia, rose through all the lower ranks in Serbia, with whom he won the U-21 World Cup in 2015.
