Rodrigo Ely: 'It's unknown how the league will go after this break'
The UD Almería centre-back starts the training camp in Marbella 'in good spirits' because 'we have to prepare ourselves as well as we can'
'If I'm honest, it's unknown how the resumption of the league will go after this break because we've never gone through a situation like this' underlined Rodrigo Ely from Marbella, where UD Almería have started this Monday a one-week training camp in the Costa del Sol.
The 29-year-old Rojiblanco stressed 'I'm pretty sure that we're going to get to the LaLiga resumption well, because we have friendlies and many days to identify the team's flaws. The central defender stressed 'this pre-season is going to be positive to continue growing. We have to take advantage of it to get physically fit again and getting to know each other better, improving tactical aspects and learning new technical skills.'
This will be the second training camp of the season for UD Almería and in this regard, Ely has indicated the following: 'we have to be prepared for this winter pre-season because they're things of modern football that in other countries are very common. We face it in good spirits.'
Despite the fact that there is still more than a month to go before the first LaLiga Santander fixture after the World Cup in Qatar, Ely has it on his mind: 'We have to keep doing things right and the away victory will come. Hopefully it'll be in Cádiz. It's true that we still haven't won as visitors but we've been very close and against tough opponents.'
The greatest show on Earth is now hitting the headlines and Rodrigo Ely has acknowledged that he follows it daily and that he is not surprised by the World Cup shocks so far: 'We're seeing that there are no easy games, except for the one between Spain and Costa Rica. As a child, I remember that this type of event made everything stop in my country; at school, classes were even paused so we could watch the games because what a World Cup conveys to people means a lot and it's absolutely beautiful. These days from Marbella, we'll surely watch games together because we all come from many different cultures and it'll be fun.'
The Italian-Brazilian highlighted the presence of his team-mate and good friend: 'Of course, seeing Babić playing with the best is amazing; when I arrived last year I told him that he had to trust that he could go. I hope that he can play and help his country go as far as possible in the World Cup.'
