Jessi Higueras and Paqui Campoy, members of UD Almería Women first-team, were honoured before the La Liga Hypermotion fixture after recently helping Spain’s senior beach soccer team win the European Championship.

The two Rojiblancas, accompanied by Mostafa Yilmaz, president of the UD Almería Foundation and Director of Operations, came onto the pitch to show off their medals and were given a warm reception by the more than 14,000 supporters inside the UD Almería Stadium. 

After Spain had come close to winning the continental title in the previous two editions of the Euro Beach Soccer League, the national team finally went all the way this time, with both UD Almería Women players playing their part in the triumph.

Spain did so in dramatic fashion, too, beating Italy 4-3 in the final after extra time, despite the hosts having defeated Spain in the opening group-stage match of the tournament.

Jessi and Paqui are regular members of the Spanish national team. Jessi, 33, has an impressive honours list which includes a World Cup title, while 22-year-old Paqui Campoy made her European Championship debut in 2024, finishing as the tournament’s top-scorer.
