Akieme: 'we're going to fix our away from home stats. We can win at Mestalla'

The UD Almería left-back highlights 'the team has good vibes' and points out the vital importance of ' being the first ones to take the lead' against Valencia CF.

UD Almería are in high spirits as left-back Sergio Akieme commented during an interview on UDA Radio: 'We're happy with the result against Atletico de Madrid but above all, with the good vibes. The team was brave and played at the same level of skill as the powerful visitors and that help us gain confidence.'

Also, the 25-year-old left-back praised his squad after sharing the spoils [1-1] with experienced opponents in European football competition, yet Akieme has also given his post-match reaction by taking the positives to build on them: 'The idea is to be daring. It's great for us to put in a good commanding display. The full-backs can go on the wing and push the opponents to take a step back so we can continue to add forward drive. You force the opponents to be more worry about defending than attacking,' explained on the Club's official radio station.

The Colchoneros haven't beaten UD Almería away from home since the 2014/2015 season; at that time, Akieme said: 'it's hard for me to remember where I was, I guess I was playing for the Rayo Vallecano youth team' while in relation to the next outing for UD Almería, the Madrid-born defender mentioned the following: 'Mestalla is a very difficult venue to win but becoming the best version of ourselves, we can get a good result. I've got a good feeling. I'm pretty sure we're going to fix our away from home stats soon. If we play a game in which we take the lead and control the game by taking care of the small details, we can win. It's the right time for it.'

The bottom half of the LaLiga Santander table is tight and Akieme expects that it will not last long so he considers that they must be more focused than ever: 'Sooner or later a gap is going to open up and we hope to be placed towards the top half by then.'
