Defender Marion Romanelli becomes latest UD Almería Women signing.

The French international moves to the team to add experience to the defence, although she can also play as a central midfielder.

UD Almería Women are in luck after the latest signing of Marion Romanelli, a 26-year-old player with extensive experience. The player came through the ranks to become a France U17 world champion and be capped by France Women's senior team.

Marion was born in Aix-en-Provence (France) where she played for Montpellier HSC Women and her story is inspiring: 'My contract with France came to an end when I was studying and I got quite tired. I had the opportunity to move here to work as babysitter. One day, I met CD La Cañada Atletico Women's head coach, who offered me the opportunity to join them in a project that consisted of moving up a tier. At first, I wasn't sure, but I really enjoyed playing football here with girls who studied and worked just like me. We managed to achieve promotion and I was super happy. This is why I wanted to continue the following season, but I tore my ACL so I went back to France to undergo surgery and now I'm here.'

Marion's main position is right-back, however, she can also operate as a central midfielder: 'I'm a right-footed winger, but I played central midfielder at CD La Cañada Atletico Women and I really liked it.' Now, she has been offered another great opportunity in UD Almería Women and she assures: 'I'm completely available to play with the team.'

UD Almería Women are facing Real Betis Women 'B' on Saturday at 8pm, a side that sit 9th on 21 points. They lost their last two games. Before those negative results, the Verdiblancas were on three-week winning streak, so they will go into this encounter with the purpose of getting back to winning ways.

On the other hand, UD Almeria Women will head into the fixture after falling to a 0-1 defeat to Levante UD Women 'B', but with good vibes since they put in a brave fight until the last minute failing to keep a one-all draw with the third-placed team. That defeat brought the girls down to 15th position, in the drop zone, but level on points with Unión Viera, who are in a safe place just above relegation so the match against Real Betis Women 'B' seems crucial to be able to escape danger.
