Pozo: ‘Valencia CF are going to fight to death and we have to be strong’

The UD Almeria right-back is confident of having chances to win their first away match this season at the Mestalla Stadium to ‘become a mid-table team and push for higher positions’

Alejandro Pozo has caught up with the Club’s official media as Monday’s fixture at the Mestalla Stadium is around the corner: ‘We really like having the ball because our style of play is to create chances, without playing the long ball game, although sometimes we need to use long kicks. There will be a battling display because both of us are keen to have possession of the ball,’ he commented in the Power Horse Stadium press room. The 23-year-old player also warns: ‘They usually get good results at home even if they lost their last home game. That makes them more dangerous.’

This will be the last away fixture of the first half of the league for the Rojiblancos against direct rivals: ‘They’re very close to us in the table and they surely think that if they lose, the’ll get into trouble. They’re going to fight to the death, they’ll spend some time attacking and we’ll have to take advantage of that moment; I’m sure that will have opportunities. We have to be strong,’ he stated.

Still a tight race from the middle to the bottom of the table as sides fight in a bid to avoid relegation while the end of the first stage of the 2022/23 season is nearing. Pozo pointed out: ‘If we defeat Valencia CF and RCD Espanyol, we could become a mid-table team who will push for higher positions. But first, we must beat Valencia CF to end our winless away streak.’
