The Indalicas will spend the Christmas holidays four points above the relegation places after sharing the spoils with CF Union Viera
UD Almería Women grabbed a valuable point on the last Matchday of 2022 to spend the Christmas holidays four points ahead of the relegation places. The Rojiblancas deserved to win as they had the best goal-scoring opportunities, but Unión Viera cancelled Jessi's opener in the second half (1-1).
After a first half with both sides developing creativity in the final third, it would be the Indálicas who enjoyed the first clear sight at goal. Within 20 minutes Lorena grazed the post with a header after a corner-kick. The opening goal was netted three minutes later, Jessi dribbled past the defender and lobbed the keeper (1-0).
With the slightest advantage, UD Almería Women wanted to double their lead to feel safer. However, CF Unión Viera also created their chances, forcing Carmen Belmonte to make a save at the edge of the interval and levelling things up (1-1) through Paula Medina shortly after the restart.
After 51 minutes, the leveller came to take s share of the spoils. Ángeles was not successful in a one-on-one, while Paqui, in the final minutes, hit the woodwork with a powerful shot.
Nothing could cause the points distribution to be changed in an encounter with two direct rivals locking horns. As far as UD Almería Women are concerned, this score means that the Almerienses will spend the Xmas holidays on a four-point lead over the relegation spots, which would be to be one step closer to the goal set at the beginning of the season in the Segunda Division RFEF.
