Gui Guedes returns after 10 weeks on the treatment table

The Portuguese UD Almería midfielder, who started in the opening game of the league season, returned to the squad after just over 2 months out following meniscus surgery

Gui Guedes was the main new addition to the UD Almería squad for the match against Real Oviedo, having spent just over 2 months on the sidelines through injury. He started the opening game of the league season against CD Eldense, in which he picked up the injury and now, 10 weeks later, head coach Xavier García Pimienta has called him up again, although he did not feature. His lack of match fitness and the state of the game in the second half meant it was not the right moment to bring him on.

Gui Guedes is now back and available for the Rojiblancos. To recap, he started UD Almería's league opener on 17 August, but was unable to train the following day due to discomfort. Medical tests subsequently revealed a tear to the lateral meniscus in his left knee. On 22 August, he underwent arthroscopic surgery performed by Dr Claudio Vázquez and on 26 August he began rehabilitation under the supervision of the Club's medical team, led by Sebastián Jiménez.

By mid-September, the Lusitanian had started working on the pitch separately from the group, before rejoining full team training on 14 October. He was given medical clearance to return to competitive action earlier this week.

With the Spanish Cup just around the corner, UD Almería are unlikely to welcome many more players back into the squad at this stage. However, the Club will monitor the progress of Mikel Vesga and Chirino ahead of the next league fixture away to SD Eibar.
