Babić: 'It is a great honour to represent UD Almería in a World Cup'

The UD Almería centre-back and Serbian international is one game away from progressing to the round of 16 with his national team in the Middle East.

Nothing compares to a FIFA World Cup and perhaps, that is why it is organised every four years. Fervent hope and burning enthusiasm pull in crowds from all backgrounds who dream big in possibly the greatest show on Earth -along with the Olympic Games-. Professional footballers derive immense satisfaction from joining up with their national teams while they represent their Clubs on international duty. Take Srđan Babić's case, who has been contacted by UDA Radio to share his first ever World Cup' experience.

'I was so happy when the head coach told me that I was going to come on the pitch; I really wanted to do well in my first appearance at this World Cup. It's a pity that we didn't beat Cameroon and the game ended in a three-all draw. I played 15 minutes and it's always a great honor and a pleasure to play for your national team and especially in such a big event,' he commented from his hotel in the Middle East.

Babić had kind words to say for his Club UD Almería, where he arrived with the goal of earning promotion to the Spanish top flight. Not only has he been able to fulfill it, but he has created a niche for himself where the best arebat the minute: 'I'll never get tired of saying that UD Almería have given me many good things and I'm happy to represent UD Almería in this World Cup in Qatar. I'll do everything I can to make us all feel proud to be here.' Meanwhile, the 26-year-old central defender would like to share his passionate enthusiasm about his participation in this World Cup with the people from the Andalusian city where he has already settled down.

The final phase of the competition is being decided these days and when assessing Serbia's options to progress to the next round, the Banja Luka native player commented the following: 'We have everything in our hands for the last Matchday of the World Cup after losing the first game to Brazil and with this draw 'We have one last match against Switzerland and if we win we'll put our name in the hat for the round of 16. The Serbia senior squad are capable of making it.'
