Melero: 'Having a good month of January will be necessary to stay up'

The UD Almería central midfielder has caught up with the Club's official media from the mid-season training camp in Marbella

'Now it feels like a new start. We can see examples of teams in previous seasons that didn't manage to get out of the bottom,' explained UD Almería central midfielder Gonzalo Melero as he looked ahead to the return of the LaLiga Santander after the World Cup break.

The 28-year-old midfielder stated 'we have to look at ourselves, continue growing as a team, earning points and not looking at the rest.' Melero recognised that the squad's results in away games should be more positive, stressing 'we have to improve our performance away from home and carry on bossing games at the Power Horse Stadium' in a bid to stay up in the Primera Division.'

The Madrid-born Rojiblanco has spoken to the Club's official media about head coach Rubi, acknowledging that 'he's got confidence in me and I'll try to restore that confidence on the field.' In addition, the footballer has shared his objective 'at the moment things are going quite well, I always try to help my team-mates. If I can contribute by transmitting the head coach's concepts to them, so be it!'
