UD Almería were unable to achieve their second victory on the bounce this season and found themselves outplayed by Villarreal CF, adversaries who put in a commanding performance from the get go. The guests took possession and prevented the Rojiblancos from creating big chances. Even though Rubi made second-half substitutions aiming to get closer to Pepe Reina's goal, the changes ensured no success and the hosts conceded two goals; one in the 75th minute by Gerard Moreno and another in the 87th minute by Morales to seal the game. Chukwueze sprayed a pass that was picked up by Morales, who volleyed past Mariño to seal victory over the hosts.
