Rubi: ‘We’ve obtained positive results at home and I hope we keep the level up’

The UD Almeria gaffer points out that ‘possession’ against Real Betis will be vital and asks the fans to ‘let the visitors know that we're playing on home turf.'

Matchday 21 beckons with UD Almeria head coach Rubi telling the journalists that he has absolute confidence in his team against next adversaries Real Betis Balompié: ‘We’ve obtained positive results at home; but if we don’t have full focus on their three main strengths, they can hurt us.’

When analysing what type of match that he expects, Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia ‘Rubi’ commented the following: ‘It’s the typical match in which the spectator is going to enjoy for sure. We share with them the same idea of the game and we’ll both look to dominate the match. Whoever keeps the ball most of the time in this game will have an edge over the other team due to the characteristics of the players of both sides.’

The Vilassar de Mar native explained that one of the keys to success will be to ‘keep the level up at home. We’re a strong team and we usually give our rivals a hard time.’ In relation to those footballers from both outfits who have been dropped, he has recognised ‘there are important absences within both squads.' Rubi has also commented: ‘Baptistao and Robertone have a beneficial impact on the team but I very much hope that those who play this Saturday take advantage of this opportunity and make the decision about the next line-up difficult.’

Rubi prefers not to attach great importance to the negative reactions after the last defeat to Rayo Vallecano: ‘I honestly don't understand it. It's as though they stopped trusting us out of the blue. We’ve got our goal to hand and I don't get why it’s so easy for people to be afraid. I only ask the fans to be by our side until the end. There’s no reason to show distrust.’ Another record attendance is expected this season and the Betis travelling fans will be out in force: ‘It’ll be essential to feel at home as we've always done at home; that's how things have gone well for us so far. We aren't going into the game after having performed badly in Vallecas because it wasn’t a disaster of a game,’ he underlined.
