Rubi: ‘This is a long-distance race and we’re not going to give up’
The UD Almeria head coach expressed his satisfaction with the performance of his team ‘who have fought until the final whistle’ and also stressed: ‘The point is fair.'
UD Almería picked up a hard-fought point in a match that saw two evenly-matched sides until the final whistle. Head coach Rubi offered his thoughts on the point collected against direct rivals Cadiz CF: ‘We add a point, we level on goal difference and then, we consider the point as good.’ In addition, he stressed: ‘justice has been done.’
The Rojiblancos’ stressed ‘In the first half, we created chances and in the second, that goal made us nervous’ and stressed: ‘but the team has continued fighting until the end, until the last ball, hence the penalty. The team doesn’t lose faith,’ concluded.
The head coach's post-match assessment was as follows: ‘Nothing happened in the first few minutes and the last 15 before the break were ours’ and he insisted again: ‘In the second half, we were quite nervous about that goal, but little by little, we imposed our game. It’s true that they’ve wasted several opportunities, but in the end that result is fair.’
Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia ‘Rubi’ concluded: ‘We’re convinced of what we do, the footballers are trying their best.’ He also thanked the loyal fans for their cheers: ‘The fans have been spectacular, they help us a lot and they’re always supporting us. Their backing is vital.’
