0-0: UD Almería 'B' earn vital point to remain in play-offs zone

The UD Almería Academy prospects, after a hard-fought match, collect a point against Xerez CD and remain 4th in the table

The sum of a great performance, grit and know-how allowed UD Almería 'B' to obtain vital point in their visit to the difficult Chapín Stadium. It was a rainy day in which two contenders for the top positions locked horns, the youth players faced Xerez CD until the 0-0 confirmed that the Rojiblancos will remain in the play-off zone for another week - continuing in 4th position - and with 41 points, just 2 away from the 43 that the head coach set as a goal at the start of the league.

Alberto Lasarte picked out an initial formation in which the presence of Joan stood out, who after having been part of the first team squad against Málaga CF, headed to the Chapín Stadium to participate in the Seginda RFEF battle.

Therefore, the UDA 'B' starting XI was formed by Bruno Iribarne; Alex Mendes, Paco Sanz, René Pérez, Ballestero, Hugo Martín, Svidersky, Perovic, Marsu, Lorenzo and Joan.

In general terms, the first half would stand out for two sides alternating dominance on the pitch. This meant that there would be few scoring opportunities, so the initial result did not change during a stretch of the match on a rainy day in which the only danger was an attempt by host Nané from the edge of the box that was responded to by a great save by Bruno Iribarne.

The youthful Indálicos' gaffer decided to boost the offensive potential with the arrival of the second half. For this reason, Yago Paredes entered the pitch replacing Svidersky. The substitution was about to give an immediate result, since the newcomer teamed up with Marsu, who crossed in, but Isma Gil made a sensational save.

After this scare, the duel returned to the script in which the two sides looked for a way to get ahead based on speed and quick plays. All of this despite how difficult was playing on a waterlogged pitch. The lads once again faced this spell showing a great performance and maturity, causing Xerez CD's attempts to be summarised in long-range shots with Bruno Iribarne very focused between the sticks.

Although it is true that UDA 'B' also looked to whip in chances during the final minutes, the 0-0 remained until the conclusion, allowing UD Almería 'B' to earn a vital point in order to continue one more week in the VIP zone that allows them to compete in the play-off for promotion to the third-tier Primera RFEF.

Furthermore, UDA 'B' have reached 41 points, so they are only 2 away from the 43 that Alberto Lasarte had set as a goal before the Academy team's premiere campaign in the fourth-tier of Spanish football began.
