Rubi awarded at ‘Onda Cero Almería’ Sports Festival

The radio station recognises that he merited promotion to the Primera Division. The UD Almeria head coach said that it would be wrong for him to take all the credit.

UD Almería head coach Rubi’s qualities shone out at the ‘Onda Cero Almería’ Sports Festival, a ceremony that celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary and was held at the Cervantes Threatre in the Almería city.

The Rojiblancos’ gaffer, who was accompanied by Club's managing director Mohamed El Assy, and other Club members, was awarded for his merits in inspiring UD Almería to promotion to the Spanish top tier. Rubi, who received the award from Deputy Mayor of Almería City Council Juan José Alonso, congratulated ‘Onda Cero’ for the event that they had organised and also mentioned that all the Club personnel should get credit as he collected the award. In fact, the Vilassar de Mar native praised his coaching staff colleagues and of course his players, who played the greatest role in his opinion, leaders, employees... and Turki Alalshikh, ‘who is developing a great project.’

Moreover, Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia 'Rubi' highlighted the important role of the fans and supporters across Almeria, who have been supporting the team wholeheartedly in their race for promotion to the top flight.

Rubi congratulated the other winners and said that other sports should also be considered as important as football, even though they do not have the same impact in the media.
