Last effort to reach World Cup break in mid-table position

UD Almería, who have won their last three home games, are hosting Getafe CF, a team that have earned points on their last four outings; a fiery encounter is expected.

UD Almería are now ready to play this Wednesday their last home fixture of 2022. After hosting Getafe CF, the winter break in the regular season will come so as to accommodate the Qatar World Cup. The Rojiblancos, who have won their last three games at the Power Horse Stadium, scoring three goals in each of them, want to keep on that track to reach the pause in a mid-table position within the LaLiga Santander table.

In order to meet their objective, they will have to test the indestructible fort they have built as hosts because Getafe CF, who have players of unquestionable quality, experience and power, have picked up points on their last four trips, conceding just one goal. The Madrid-based side has obtained better results as guests than as a home team.

On that note, Getafe CF head coach Quique Sánchez Flores has inspired his team to victories on the fields of CA Osasuna (0-2) and Elche CF (0-1), and his players were held to a goalless draw with Rayo Vallecano (0-0) and also shared the spoils with Celta de Vigo (1-1).

UD Almería are perfectly aware of this fact and feel confident enough to be able to keep on making progress in the league and strengthen their form at the Power Horse Stadium. In that way, they will finish this part of the season with 16 points, a number that would be extremely significant since it would place them in a safer position in the table to avoid the drop. There will not be more LaLiga Santander action until the last weekend of December when Rubi's men visit Cádiz.

The squad has partipated in one last behind-closed-doors practice in the evening to flesh out the final details for this Wednesday's fiercy-looking encounter. Brazilian central defender Kaiky will miss out through a one-game suspension.
