Goalkeeper Fernando Martínez commits future to UD Almería until 2025

The Rojiblanco captain, whose goalkeeping skills and professionalism on and off the pitch is an example to everyone, pens a two-year contract extension within his 6th season at the Club.

Fernando Martínez Rubio, who was born in Murcia on 10th June, 1990, commits his future to UD Almería after signing a two-year contract extension until 2025. The Rojiblanco goalkeeper is celebrating his sixth season at the Club. When it comes down to modern football, it is unusual to spend so many years playing for the same team and this deal renewal only goes to prove his spirited performances and goalkeeping skills.

The 32-year-old sharp shot-stopper joined UD Almería in the past 2017/18 season. He has already clocked up a century of UD Almería appearances after featuring in 106 games as a Rojiblanco. Fernando has become one of the key players in the squad, especially in the 2019/20 campaign. Previously, he was always characterised by his professionalism in training while waiting patiently for his chance, and later by taking pride in his outstanding performances that led him to captain the Indalicos team. Undoubtedly, being awarded the Ricardo Zamora Trophy when achieving promotion to the Spanish top flight last season was a real milestone in his life.
