4-2: UD Almería reign in 6-goal thriller
The unstoppable Rojiblancos grind out historic 8th straight home win to tighten grip on automatic promotion spot
UD Almería battled their way to a dramatic 4–2 victory over CD Mirandés, securing a historic 8th consecutive home win and strengthening their hold on an automatic promotion spot. On a night that celebrated hard work and resilience, the Rojiblancos proved the calmer side in a chaotic encounter that produced 4 goals inside the opening 20 minutes.
The Indálicos struck almost immediately. Baptistão, fresh from a last-gasp winner in the previous home match, opened the scoring within the very 1st minute with a clinical finish. But the lead was short-lived, as Medrano equalised for CD Mirandés just 3 minutes later, setting the tone for a breathless contest.
UD Almería responded with attacking intent, creating multiple chances through Miguel de la Fuente and Álex Muñoz, before regaining the lead in the 2–1 through an own goal by opponent Juan Gutiérrez following a well-worked corner routine. Yet, in keeping with the game’s frantic rhythm, CD Mirandés hit back again almost instantly, with El Jebari levelling at 2–2.
After an explosive first half, head coach Rubi made key tactical adjustments at the break, allowing UD Almería to take control in midfield and push the game into the visitors’ half. Despite a dangerous chance for the Jabato team early in the second period, denied by Andrés Fernández, the hosts delivered the decisive blow. Miguel de la Fuente’s dangerous cross forced another own goal from the visitors to make it 3–2.
UD Almería maintained their composure and intensity, refusing to allow another comeback. Substitute Morcillo sealed the victory late on, winning and converting a penalty to make it 4–2, mirroring last week’s result in Granada.
This landmark win not only sets a new Club record but also keeps UD Almería firmly in the race at the top, protecting their invaluable automatic promotion position with determination and consistency.
