Rubi: 'We won a tricky game against a tough team'
The UD Almería head coach praises UD Almería’s 8th straight home win but warns of tough challenges ahead
For the second consecutive week, UD Almería remain in second place, holding onto an automatic promotion spot to the top flight, something head coach Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia 'Rubi' values highly given the fierce competition. He emphasised: 'At this stage of the season, every match is extremely difficult because all teams have so much at stake. They played very well and made things really hard for us.' In summary, he stated: 'We won a tricky game against tough opponents.'
Reflecting on the match, Rubi explained: 'The first half was very unusual because we took the lead twice and both times they equalised very quickly, which isn't something you normally see. In the second half, we had more control and at times we pinned them back. It’s true that two of the goals were own goals, but they came from situations we created.'
The UD Almería gaffer highlighted the team’s impressive numbers, saying 'we’ve achieved our 8th consecutive home win, reached 70 points, scored 78 goals, and won 11 of our last 15 matches… we're where we want to be and we’re at the top of the table.' However, the Catalan also issued a warning: 'We're going to suffer a lot in the coming weeks, just like everyone else.'
