UD Almería take centre stage at 'La Voz' and 'Cadena SER' Awards ceremony
The Club attendees collected the award while they were praised for their hard work and promotion to the top flight.
This was the 10th occasion on which this Almería Awards ceremony has been organised by 'La Voz de Almeria', Cadena SER and the 40 Principales radio stations. It was held at the Maestro Padilla Concert Hall in Almería city. The Rojiblancos received the Sports award for their promotion to the top-tier LaLiga Santander, but their hard work was also praised by the organisers and the institutions present at the event: La Voz de Almería newspaper and Cadena SER radio station Director Pedro Manuel De la Cruz; Eugenio González, on behalf of Diputación de Almería Government and Almería Mayoress María del Mar Vázquez, who apart from the positive results, highlighted the investments of the Club and its strong support.
UD Almería first-team head coach Rubi, co-captains Fernando Martínez and César de la Hoz, and fellow players Iñigo Eguaras and Francisco Portillo attended the event looking smart and happy.
The Bishop of Almería was in charge of presenting the award and Fernando, on behalf of the squad, thanked 'La Voz de Almería' newspaper and Cadena SER radio station profoundly for this recognition. The Murcia native goalkeeper pointed out that the unwavering support of their fans and institutions has always been vital. He stated 'earning promotion isn't easy at all; quite the opposite. The truth is that without everyone's support we wouldn't have succeeded. We felt that the entire city and the province supported us and that was essential to help us.'
Before the award ceremony, a video was played showing stunning goals scored last season as well as that day of promotion. Fernando acknowledged 'I'm still excited to see these images. It's an unforgettable achievement thanks to the hard work done by everyone in the Club.'
