Rubi: ‘What a pity to draw, but we showed that we wanted to win’

The UD Almeria head coach admitted that it was a great shame not to have picked up the three points in Cádiz, although he praised the great work and huge effort of his side in their last game of 2022.

UD Almeria head coach Rubi provided an assessment of tonight’s action at the Nuevo Mirandilla Stadium in Cadiz: ‘What a pity to draw like this, but we played a good game and also showed that we wanted to win.’ The Rojiblancos’ gaffer fully appreciated the great work and huge effort made by his players, and congratulated them on it and the result obtained. He stressed ‘we’ve competed well, and although we’re a bit sad, we can’t forget that we’ve fought and struggled to achieve victory, which we’ve been very close to getting.’

Meanwhile, the Vilassar de Mar native pointed out ‘in the final minutes, we were even able to lose when Lozano fired that shot that Fernando saved, although in the next play, the last of the game, we squandered another big chance.’

The UD Almería head coach mentioned ‘we’ve got 17 points and we’re on the right track because as I said the team competes well and I’m calm.’ In addition, as Rubi highlighted ‘we closed out a wonderful year, with a promotion being champions in the Segunda Division, and doing well in the Primera Division.’
