Rubi: 'We have to fight in every game as if it were the last'

The UD Almería head coach highlights the strengths of Sevilla FC, but points out' 'We've worked to be able to hurt them.' He praises and wishes UD Almería Under-19s 'A' the best of luck.

Fourteen Matchdays remain for the competition to end and it is time to talk about finals, a scenario that Rubi was asked about during the pre-Sevilla presser ahead of Sunday's clash at the Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium: 'A final is played when there's no more games after and nothing ends tomorrow,' although he made it clear: 'We have to fight in each game as if it were the last. The important thing is not giving up at any time, no matter what, but there are no finals.'

Rubi is fully aware that in each meeting 'there's already a lot at stake,' and he then reflected: 'We need to achieve five victories and some draws, and we've chances to do it. The question is to add points. We're going to Seville with the idea of bagging the three points, and if we can't get three...at least one.'

The UD Almería gaffer insisted on trying 'to show consistency, never giving up and team and fans sticking together. The table is very tight.'

When talking about Sevilla FC, Rubi said that 'they're great players with a good head coach and have experience in European competition, but currently they have the same points as us and this is a reality. Two days ago, we were able to defeat the leaders. We sometimes play better and sometimes worse, but we've shown that we can compete against anyone.'

With regard to the rivals' style of play, the Vilassar de Mar native explained 'they're daring with the ball, they have many attacking variations. They also send a lot of crosses into the area and press, although we've worked to try to hurt them and overcome them.'

Rubi, who highlighted the Sevilla FC fans' strong support at the Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium, send the UD Almería Under-19s 'A' a message before the Spanish Cup U19 final this Saturday: 'I want to congratulate the players and coaches for the great success in a scintillating season that has become historic. I wish them the best of luck in the final and I hope they enjoy it.'
