The Portuguese midfielder, who is training normally with the first-team squad, could be available to the head coach if he considers him ready
UD Almería’s Portuguese midfielder Gui Guedes is now back in contention and could be available to head coach Xavier García Pimienta if the latter considers him ready. The player rejoined full team training late last week after spending a couple of months on the sidelines due to a knee injury. He has now received not only medical clearance but also competitive clearance.
After suffering a tear to the lateral meniscus in his left knee during the opening match of the league season, Guedes underwent surgery on 22 August. He must now regain his best physical condition and match fitness. He is once again fully integrated into the squad.
Meanwhile, the Rojiblancos step up preparations for Saturday’s match against Real Oviedo, which kicks off at 9pm at the UD Almería Stadium. The fixture will see UD Almería face a side that has previously competed in Spain’s top-flight.
The match marks the beginning of a particularly demanding period in the competition, as UD Almería will subsequently travel to take on SD Eibar and Girona CF, another team with recent experience in the top tier of Spanish football. They will also have to balance their league campaign with their Copa del Rey commitments.
