Rubi: ‘We deserved more; the game left us exhausted’

The UD Almeria head coach praised his team's positive attitude at the post-Betis presser and made it clear ‘I have no doubt that this will give us points eventually’

After UD Almeria’s bitter defeat to Real Betis, Rubi spoke to the media at the Power Horse Stadium press room. The head coach shared his first post-match thoughts: ‘Betis were on fire over the first half, but we’ve managed to draw level and release that initial tension. We scored, equalised and also finished the first half with Rodrigo Ely and Pozo injured. In the second period, we came out onto the pitch much better and we grabbed the leveller. We had chances to score more goals, but it was a shame that goal conceded from a corner-kick.’

The Rojiblancos’ gaffer went further into his team's idea of play in all matches: ‘Our mentality is to go all out for wins by attacking to score goals. Another thing is that there are days when we’re better defenders and there are days when we might be worse, however our idea is always to add more forward drive towards the opposite goal.’

Regarding the goals scored by his side, Rubi stated: ‘As long as the team creates chances and scores goals, I don't care who scores them.’ He then added: ‘The fact that there are more than one scorer in the squad seems better to me than focusing on one or two footballers, because you have more possibilities since anyone can score.’

‘The players have given it their all and the game left them exhausted from working, running, trying to win the ball back, attacking, and all that will give us points eventually, I have no doubt about it. My team deserved more,' concluded Rubi at the post-Betis press conference.
