Rubi: 'Our chance of success is to believe that we can win the game and really go for it'
The UD Almería head coach puts faith in courage and great daring to 'attack with spirit' against visitors Club Atlético de Madrid this Sunday.
UD Almería head coach Rubi met with the media before hosting Atletico de Madrid and explained the key tools to defeating them: 'Our chance of success is to believe that we can win the game and really go for it. Knowing that they have top qualities, we want ours to be seen too.'
The Rojiblancos' gaffer also stated: 'I want my side to create threatening situations. We need the command we've always had but also we must attack with spirit. That's what made us score so many goals in the first halves, for instance, and that's exactly what I want to recover.'
In relation to the analysis of the adversaries, the head coach has mentioned his attacking principles: 'Many have only heard of the analysis of Cholo's Atlético from the first years when they used to play defending deeper and counter-attacking, yet in my humble opinion, the current Atlético de Madrid have been increasing attacking situations. They're a well-drilled team up front. They have a very clear idea of how to attack effectively as they're well aware of their strengths. If you let their players turn, they'll send loads of balls behind our central defenders.' He insisted: 'They play really well and with class.'
The Vilassar de Mar has conveyed his immense enthusiasm about this upcoming big challenge: 'Beating one of the three oldest and biggest teams in the Spanish league will create a lasting memory for sure. It's a great opportunity. I want my players to be calm whatever happens because, if we compete, everyone will be with us. It won't be easy to beat a Champions League team, but if we manage to do so, we'll demonstrate that we're at a really high level.'
