Gonzalo Melero: 'We know of Real Sociedad 's potential, but we can make it difficult for them'
The UD Almería midfielder, who gave us those festive feels in Cádiz last Friday, is hoping to celebrate the first victory of 2023 with the committed fans.
'We're aware that Real Sociedad are a team of quality footballers who play football brilliantly, but we also have our weapons to make it difficult for them,' stated UD Almería midfielder Gonzalo Melero as he previewed Sunday's match against the San Sebastian-based team at the Power Horse Stadium (KO 2pm CET)
The Rojiblanco remains strongly optimistic about the future by arguing 'we have two tough tests at home coming, but with the good run of results we're on and thanks to the massive support of our fans, we're hoping to get a positive score.'
Regarding the 1-1 draw away to Cádiz CF last Friday, the player who scored the last Christmas goal of 2022 for the Indálicos to give us all those festive feels, admitted 'the whole team played a great game although an error cost us not to take the 3 points.' Melero has highlighted the positive aspects at the Nuevo Mirandilla Stadium, acknowledging 'we're dissatisfied with the tie, because in my humble opinion, we merited to win. We have to be happy because UD Almería showed a good version of themselves and we're on the right track.'
As for his performance, the Madrid-born central midfielder stressed 'I'm happy, goals may make you look stronger but beyond that, the daily work I put in is what counts. Things seem to be going well and I'm being able to help the squad as I like. I'm comfortable and calm. I think that's being shown on the pitch.'
In addition, the 29-year-old player has sent a message to the committed UD Almería supporters: 'I'm very grateful to the fans. They're showing me their strong support both through social media and in person. We're looking forward to celebrating with you many more wins. We're keen to start 2023 in the best possible way, dedicating the next home win to them.'
