4-1: The result in Castellón speaks volumes
UD Almería suffered a harsh defeat against CD Castellón, further jeopardizing their hopes. The Rojiblancos opened the scoring, went down the tunnel at half-time 1-1 and were dominated by the hosts in the second half
UD Almería remain winless away from home in this second half of LaLiga Hypermotion, with the exception of the start of the year, when they thrashed Córdoba CF 3-0. Since then, a draw in Gijón and defeats in Albacete, La Coruña, Burgos, Eibar, Granada and now in Castellón. This was a harsh setback because, far from reacting, the team continue to fail on the road, complicating their promotion hopes.
The 4-1 final score at the SkyLi Castalia Stadium speaks volumes. UD Almería started the match on the right foot. It seemed that the away games run was finally about to change. The starting lineup had two changes compared to the previous Matchday: Bruno Langa came on as a left-back and Rubi strengthened the midfield with the arrival of Lucas Robertone.
The Rojiblancos competed well in a difficult situation with a lot of pressure and opponents showing their might. The Indálicos knew what they had to do, doing a great job keeping Castellón at bay with tightly packed lines and a total commitment from all players, then moving forward with speed or handling the ball sensibly.
In the midfield, Lopy, Melero, and Robertone displayed their superiority and won numerous 1v1s. As a result, a brilliant strike from Nico Melamed inside the box put the guests in front. It looked like he was going to kick the ball at the far post, but instead he fired in, surprising the goalkeeper.
UD Almería didn't make things easy and looked quite confident on the pitch, yet in the 30th minute, Moyita finished alone at the far post after the ball had drifted past the goal. The home side's goal hurt Rubi's men, who became less sharp, even though the score was 1-1 at half-time.
The second half was a nightmare. CD Castellón quickly gained momentum and completely dominated UD Almería, who were powerless to stop them. Not only did the home side excel, but they also found opportunities to get dangerously close to Maximiano's box.
In the 66th minute, Cala's cross from the right flank was headed into the back of the net, almost unchallenged by Cámara. It was 2-1. With 70 minutes on the clock, Suero, who had just come onto the pitch, received a pass and scored easily from inside the box; shortly after, in the 81st minute, he finished again with great ease. In the end, the score was 4-1, which speaks volumes and the Rojiblancos were empty-handed.
