Rubi: 'The opponents dominated us in the second half'
The UD Almería gaffer acknowledges: 'From the 60 minute onwards, we melted like a sugar cube and regrets: 'Away from home, we weren't finding the right fit.'
UD Almería head coach Rubi went to the Castalia press room after another away defeat, this time against the Castellón side. 'I saw a fairly evenly-matched game in the first half. We managed to get ahead and they didn't create too much danger, although CD Castellón's pressure after conceding a goal hurt us a lot. From the 60 minute onwards, we melted like a sugar cube and they dominated us in the second half. Away from home, we weren't finding the right fit,' he explained.
The Catalan highlighted the strengths of the opponents and at the same time, criticised some of his team's playing situations: 'When it came to attacking, it's true that CD Castellón's pressure was strong throughout the match and we struggled to get the ball out of play; we lack precision sometimes. Defensively, two very poorly defended crosses from the wings made us lose the game.'
Finally, the Vilassar de Mar native emphasised the image being projected away from UD Almería Stadium in this second half of the competition and apologised to the fans travelling to Castellón: 'Every away game is feeling like déjà vu. I want to apologise to the travelling crowd because we're not giving them anything. The game plan started well, but it quickly seemed to fade away. We must focus on winning both at home and arriving mentally strong for a LaLiga Hypermotion final.'
