Rubi: ‘We have to get back on the path to victory at home’

The head coach wants his side to ‘return to create more big chances’ to overcome Sanse. He recognises that there will be changes

Any team at the top of the table cannot be too long without winning and in this regard, UD Almeria head coach Rubi has indicated ‘we have to take the game off the ground because we have to get back on the path to victory at home from now on.’ The Catalan head coach has praised next rivals Sanse: ‘They’re a great team that have joined the league bursting onto the scene. Their game proposal is really interesting and we share the same idea of playing out from the back. It’s an attractive game for the spectator because of the rivals’ talent. Their style of play is well defined whoever plays. Their players are doing very well every time they join the first team. The setback at the Ipurúa Stadium is now a thing of the past according to the Rojiblancos’ gaffer: ‘We’ve turned the page analysing the last game. We are looking to find solutions. There’re games in short weeks and there’s no time to feel downhearted.’

Rubi outlined one of the keys to achieving the victory: ‘What I want for us is to go all out for a win from the first minute and to recover our freshness in front of the goal, which is what we’ve been missing in the last two matches.’ On this subject, he continued: ‘We’re not letting opponents to create many scoring opportunities. In defence, we can’t lower our performance because if we don’t, we’ll keep a clean sheet. When it comes to the attacking game, things are a bit more delicate because we depend on the inspiration of the day. The truth is that I want us to create more big chances because it’s the only way to score goals.’

LaLiga SmartBank games are now coming thick from Matchday 11 since there are two games against Real Sociedad ‘B’ and CD Mirandés around the corner. If we include the game played at the Ipurúa Stadium, there will be a total of 3 games played in 10 days and in a week again, another 3 fixtures in 7 days so Rubi will ring the changes: ‘We have two games in a few days and I want to make rotations in the squad; first because they deserve it for their daily work and second, because that allows us to have two fresh starting XIs. How many changes? We’ll see. It’s not usual to see the same starting line-up week after week as we’ve been doing over the last month as there’s always ups and downs. I’m pretty sure that everyone is going to perform up to standard.’
