Rubi: ‘Our priority is to play with a team of players who perform at 100%’

The head coach points out ‘Anduva is a tough place to win but emphasises ‘we’re the current leaders and we’re going with the ambition of getting the 3 points’

UD Almeria head coach Rubi looked ahead to Sunday’s game against CD Mirandés at the Anduva Stadium (kick-off 2pm Spain Time). The game will be played in less than 72 hours after the match against Real Sociedad ‘B’. On this subject, the head coach commented ‘the priority is to play with a team of players who perform at 100%. We’re going to assess how the players are until the last minute and then we’ll decide.’

The Rojiblancos only have two training sessions to prepare for this imminent league appointment, although as Rubi stated ‘the idea of the game that CD Mirandés have is similar to that of Real Sociedad ‘B’. They’re also a very young team, the second from the tier and many aspects we worked on for last Thursday's game are worth for Sunday's.’

On another note, the Rojiblancos’ gaffer stressed ‘we’re the current leaders and we’re going with the ambition to get the three points,’ although he clarified ‘we must be very clear that Anduva is a tough place to win where some teams have conceded 3 and 4 goals. They have a relevant scoring ability so our defence must be fully focused.’

With regard to the analysis of the next rivals from the region of Castilla y Leon, he highlighted ‘They’re a very young squad with very fast, self-confident forwards. They usually play lively encounters.’

Finally, Rubi appreciated the fact that ‘it’s the fourth Matchday in which we ended up being leaders. We’ve lost this condition in previous match weeks and now we’re back, a sign that means that if we happen to lose, it won’t affect us because we’ve got the ability to get up and improve. We achieved 7 victories in 11 games, which is rather significant. What we’re looking for is to extend our lead as much as we can. The more points we bag now, the better, just in case…’
