4-1: UD Almeria Women close out stellar season with rampant victory

The Rojiblancas thrash Polideportivo San Miguel with a brace from Sarita and goals from Anita París and Fátima as the conclusion of their historic season

UD Almería Women closed out their stellar season with a rampant victory over Polideportivo San Miguel. The Indálicas were far superior to the guests until a brilliant brace from Sarita and goals from Anita Paris, from a penalty, and Fátima would serve to make it 4-1 as the result of their final game of the 2021/22 campaign. This was the exciting climax to a historic league season for the Rojiblancas in which they have obtained the highest number of points since they reached the Primera Nacional tier and in which they have competed until recent Matchdays to be promoted to a higher division.

From the off, it would be seen that UD Almería Women were not going to have hardly any difficulties in overcoming the team from Extremadura, who, on the other hand, arrived at the Emilio Campra Youth Stadium already relegated. Such would be the hosts' superiority that after 10 minutes Sarita sent the rebound of a shot into the net in which Jessi hit the crossbar (1-0).

The home team from the Andalusian south coast made a flying start to a breathless encounter  and fashioned the biggest chances in the opening 45 minutes. Anita Paris doubled their lead 2-0 by converting a penalty committed on compatriot Lucía. Shortly before, Marta Paz had already warned with a strike in which the visiting keeper had to avert danger.

With 23 minutes gone, the Almería skipper slammed in the second, although it would not be necessary to wait too long for the 3-0 to come courtesy of Fátima. The Rojiblancas were playing outstandingly, reaching half-time on the front foot with Sarita slotting home the fourth (4-0).

UD Almeria Women lost momentum in the second period. It is true that they made their presence felt in the final third, but at a much more unhurried pace than what had been experienced during the first half. Anyway, there was no indication that the girls from San Miguel could get into the game despite the fact that, in the 72nd minute, they pulled one back after making the most of an effective counter-attack (4-1).

This match would be the closing of their stellar 2021/22 season in which the girls from UD Almería Women have achieved their best records in the Primera Nacional league, which allowed the Rojiblancas to fight until the end for promotion. They finished in 4th place in the championship after experiencing unforgettable moments over the course of the campaign and fighting for goals that are much more challenging than the ones set at the beginning.
