2-1: Third win on the bounce and three more huge points

UD Almería assert their complete dominance over CD Mirandés. Sadiq scores a superb brace. The visitors pull one back after 96 minutes. Lazo is back

UD Almería achieved their third LaLiga SmartBank victory on the bounce as they asserted their complete dominance over visitors CD Mirandés. Early pressure from the hosts who went on the attack constantly and Sadiq Umar hit a purple patch as he netted a superb second-half brace to seal victory. With 96 minutes on the clock, CD Mirandés pulled one back after scoring a rebound from a penalty kick and made it 2-1 just before full-time. José Carlos Lazo was back in action after his injury.

From the off it was clear that the Indalicos were going to emerge victorious. Under a spectacular atmosphere in the stands of the Juegos Mediterráneos —where the anthem was sung a cappella while the players were coming onto the pitch— two goals  could have already been scored by the hosts within 10 minutes, but the explosive shots by Ramazani and Robertone went over the crossbar.

As the first half wore on, UD Almeria continued to boss things and with the arrival of the second period they increased momentum. In fact, UD Almería had a lot of touch in the box and a lot of shots were constant until, in the 68th minute, Sadiq Umar slotted home when he was approaching the area. It was a stick of dynamite from the Nigerian who hit on the counter first (1-0).

It didn't take long to extend the home team’s lead (2-0), since, 71 minutes in, Dyego Sousa —who had just walked out onto the field as a sub— recovered the ball and provided the fantastic assist for compatriot Sadiq Umar, whose clinical finish doubled his side’s lead and in addition, it sparked even more football chants from the committed fans who proved to be fully involved one more week under the Mediterraneo’s lights.

One of the highlights of Sunday’s fixture was the return of José Carlos Lazo, who is now fully recovered from the injury that has had him working on the sidelines in recent weeks.

UD Almería's victory was never in danger. What's more, the 2-1 came with more than enough time when the referee awarded the visitors from Miranda de Ebro a penalty. At first, Fernando saved it, yet the ball found the back of the net after the rebound.

All in all, the third win on the bounce for UD Almeria in LaLiga SmartBank arrived to remain in the VIP area so as to earn automatic promotion to the highest tier of Spanish football. It was a Matchday in which the great teamwork and the fans' rousing cheers stood out.
