2-0: This is the real UD Almería!

The Rojiblancos create countless big chances and enjoy superiority over UD Ibiza to achieve their first win of 2022

UD Almería are back! The Rojiblancos created countless big chances and enjoyed complete superiority over UD Ibiza to achieve their first victory of 2022. After a first half feeding the ball into the box over and over, Ramazani opened the scoring in the second period after converting from 12 yards (1-0). Then, it was in the 90th minute when Sadiq Umar slammed in the second to double his side’s lead and seal their all-important triumph at the Mediterraneo (2-0).

Head coach Rubi picked out a starting XI with a raft of key players who had made their long-awaited comeback to start again or play in their main positions: Fernando; Pozo, Chumi, Babić, Akieme, César de la Hoz, Samú Costa, Arnau, Ramazani, Portillo and Sadiq Umar.

From the off, balls into the box opportunities by the hosts followed one another as they put in a brilliant display. Before the break, UD Almeria merited more than enough to have taken the lead earlier but it was all square at half-time.

It would not be until the second half when the 1-0 was recorded. With 55 minutes gone, Sadiq Umar —who was one of the most outstanding contenders— fell within the area so the ref awarded the Indalicos a clear penalty that Ramazani converted from 12 yards; he scored in the bottom left corner with plenty of confidence. Despite the advantage, UD Almería continued to go on the attack in order to double their lead. They were about to make it through another penalty that was committed on Sadiq Umar, however, this time, the goalkeeper from Eivissa guessed the Belgian's intentions.

Whatever may have happened, the great performance put on by the Indalicos, who also made sure that goalie Fernando was alright between the sticks, carried on until the 90th minute. That was exactly when the Nigerian’s blistering solo run led him to wind his way past the defenders. He ended up slamming in the second to seal victory (2-0).

Long story short, UD Almería's first victory of 2022 was clinched through a brilliant display and offensive ability. The hosts finally broke their hoodo by creating big chances and keeping a clean sheet against in-form UD Ibiza at the Mediterraneo
