2-0: Five wins on the bounce and counting!

Even though UD Almería took the lead after 1 minute, the second goal to seal the win was not scored until the very last minute

UD Almería clinched their fifth consecutive victory over Burgos CF, which solidifies their lead in LaLiga SmartBank. The Rojiblancos put themselves in front early and showed total concentration until the end, which was precisely when the second goal sealed their 2-0 home victory. UD Almeria took the lead though Lazo’s early opener in the 1st minute! Although the Indalicos created enough chances to have extended their lead sooner, Arnau Puigmal’s second goal, which gave the fans in the Mediterraneo stands a real thrill, wasn’t scored until the very last minute.

The game could not have started any better for UD Almería, since shortly after the kick-off, José Carlos Lazo received the ball and full of confidence did not miss the opportunity to open the scoring (1-0). The hosts had started with great attacking ambition and they were about to extend their lead right after when Sadiq tested the reflexes of the keeper from Burgos and also a strike by Curro from the edge of the box grazed the post.

Moreover, during the opening 45 minutes, more goal scoring opportunities followed one another looking for the second. Curro sought to surprise from afar but the ball skimmed off the crossbar on 28 minutes while in the 34th minute, it was the Nigerian player who blew his chance to score.

The second half saw goalie Caro keeping it out so as not to give up his team’s hope of equalising. In addition, Appiah, Arnau and Nieto entered the pitch within 69 minutes contributing to whip in more chances and even slot home the second, which was not recorded after a VAR review. At that time it was the 84th minute. Be that as it may, that goal being chalked off gave Burgos CF one more opportunity. Their only shot was parried by Fernando Martínez in this final stretch.

UD Almería deserved to score again. The game went into added time when Dyego Sousa -who had just entered the field of play- started a brilliant play by the goalline -as it had already happened at El Molinón stadium- and assisted Arnau Puigmal, whose goal sealed the three points.

This is how UD Almeria achieved their fifth victory on the bounce to solidify their LaLiga SmartBank as the second-placed team is now 6 points behind and the third 7 points adrift of the Rojiblancos
