‘We want to seize on the marathon of matches that we have coming soon’

Manu Morlanes explains that this week ‘it’ll be good for us to improve and correct different aspects of the game’

‘We want to seize on the marathon of games that we have coming soon’ exclaimed with delight the UD Almeria player Manu Morlanes during a conversation with the club's official media. The midfielder has become a key player in José Gomes' starting XI. The Rojiblancos will have to be ready for matchday 13 next Monday, 23 November, in Albacete. Since then, the footballers will have to play 8 or 9 matches in less than a month (28 days) until Christmastime.

On the ground that hectic weeks are just around the corner, the Zaragoza-born footballer explained that ‘this long week without playing is gonna be weird, but it’ll help us improve some aspects of the game and correct some others. In addition, it won’t allow us to have more time to rest. Then, we’ll see how this week has made us feel after so many days without competing when we get to Albacete on Monday.’

The next adversaries are currently within relegation spots, yet Manu Morlanes assured that ‘in this league level anyone can beat you, regardless of the fact that their game and performances are not really reflected in the standings. It’s a good team with great players, especially up front, so we have to get to Carlos Belmonte with the utmost humility although showing, at the same time, character when attacking because we’re a young team who want to go all out for a win in each and every encounter.’ These true identifying features obviously apply to any league or Copa del Rey match.

The 21-year-old midfielder arrived at Almería still on the mend from a shoulder operation. He was settling in the team step by step and he is now a regular starter, in addition to making a difference in the midfield. On this subject, he said that ‘I already said one day that in this world of football one day you are down and the next up. We’re going through a good patch both collectively and individually and we’re working hard to hold onto the top positions in the table. We’re seeing Almería as a good team and we must continue in the same way. As they say, we weren't so bad before and we’re not so good now.’

Personally, he confessed before concluding that he feels happy and stressed that ‘I’m trying to show what I have inside and everything I can give to help Almería achieve their goal.’
