‘We want to pull off a victory to change this dynamic’

Fernando expresses his confidence in beating Deportivo to lift the team's spirits

Fernando Martínez, one of the UD Almeria skippers, made it clear that the team want to ‘get a victory to change this dynamic’ when analysing the appointment that the Rojiblancos have with Deportivo de la Coruña on Saturday. Also, the goalkeeper said that ‘the winning and losing streaks depend a lot on the results. The team did well in Cádiz. We may have to improve certain moments regarding keeping the concentration during the ninety minutes’, he added.

The goalkeeper acknowledged at the press conference that Dépor are going to be ‘very complicated opponents’, because ‘despite their situation in the table, the Galicians are being so far the best team in the second round. However, the keeps born in Murcia does not want to talk about ‘difficulty’ as the Rojiblancos are playing at Juegos Mediterraneos. In this sense, he said: ‘The fact that we are playing at home has to be something positive. We have not had the best feelings after the recent games’ results, but it is time to come together and this will be easier.’

The players who are wearing the UD Almeria shirt want to fight for one of the two top-finishing automatic promotion positions to First Division. Fernando Martínez knows that ‘we are at a time when everything is to be decided’, within a category that ‘is very changing’. For this reason, he concluded: ‘Six weeks ago we became leaders and we were even eleven points behind Cadiz; they are now eight points above. If we managed to top the table before, why not now that everything is to decide. I still believe that we have the opportunity to gain automatic promotion.’
