‘We have to get into the right mindset and play the ball displaying our character’

José María Gutiérrez wants his team to improve their performance against Extremadura UD

Almeria waited 11 days to play their last match against Real Oviedo. After that, they will only have 72 hours to prepare for the next game taking on Extremadura UD. According to José María Gutiérrez, there is no time to lose: ‘There is no break. They are two matchdays in one week and it will be difficult for the players to recover. They should know that every game is difficult and that we have to give 110% if we want to win the next one. We don't have enough time to analyse what we did right or wrong in the last meeting, we will do it after facing Extremadura. At the moment, we have to focus on getting there and playing the best we can to seal another victory as we did on Thursday’.

When assessing the opponents, the rojiblanco head coach says that ‘despite they are playing at home, they are in the relegation zone. They urgently need to get three points and it will not be an easy match. They are a strong rival and everything is more difficult when you are playing away. They are a team that make you compete for 90 minutes and force you to get involved from start to finish. They are likely to find your net at any time, and therefore complicate things. If we manage to get out on the pitch with the same mindset, we will level forces and with our quality, we will be able to beat them and win the game’.
