‘We have to be happy for the match reaction and for the added point’

José María Gutiérrez, the UD Almeria’s head coach highlighted his players’ attitude to draw level

‘We have to be happy for the match reaction and for the added point, which is really important’; These were statements made by the UD Almeria’s manager José María Gutiérrez, once the intense and pulsating game that took place in Fuenlabrada came to an end.

The UD Almeria’s manager explained that ‘we have done a very good first half in which we have not suffered. But it is true that we struggled to get back into the game and conceded goals. When the score was 2-nil, they backed down and given us the ball, which helped us to come back into the game and tie’.

Once more, the UD Almeria’s coach changed the match tactics by switching out players and the system. He said that ‘we are looking for the best solutions at all times, especially when things are not going well. We must congratulate the players who were brought onto the pitch because they were key to change the game’.

At the same time, he pointed out that ‘when we had scored 2-1, they got nervous seeing that we were going for the draw’, and added that ‘we have taken a team work attitude, difficult to defeat and we have been strong in a tough and complicated game’.

As it happened against the Mirandés, the UD Almeria team managed to come back into the game with a great capacity of reaction. When he was asked about that, he replied that ‘I would like us to get ahead and not suffer so much. But the team are showing that they know how to suffer and never give up, as they have shown in other matchdays’.
