‘We have a very difficult game ahead of us; Sporting are a well organised team’

José Gomes was full of praise for Sunday's adversaries and highlights that he wants Almería to show their powerful personality

José Gomes made it clear that UD Almería will have ‘a very difficult game’ ahead on Sunday, as the Almería hosts will face ‘a very well organised team who counter-attack at speed. These observations made have been commented on during the virtual pre-match press conference. 

In the opinion of the Portuguese head coach, Sporting de Gijón, is one of the teams that are in the best shape of the competition, which is why he stressed: ‘We have to be clearly focused to exploit half spaces to show our style of play. He wants that all of his players show their powerful personality, as he stated.

José Gomes also pointed out that the fact of trying to control the game is mandatory in his coaching approach, either through looking more comfortable in possession or creating space. ‘I really like to have the ball under control, an offensive football that every footballer likes to play’ he added.

The UD Almería gaffer responded to questions related to the summer transfer window’s deadline next Monday, stating that ‘we have to be focused on what we have
