‘We are really excited and motivated to seek victory in Soria’

José María Gutiérrez says that his side are not touched by their last defeat against Elche and he has got high expectations for his squad. He warns of the dangers of their next opponents

‘We are really excited and motivated to seek victory in Soria’; These were statements made by José María Gutiérrez, head coach of UD Almería, in the pre-match press conference. The rojiblancos will play against Numancia at the Los Pajaritos Stadium this Sunday (6.15 p.m.), corresponding to matchday 26 of the SmartBank League.

The Almeria first team’s gaffer said that his side was not touched after last week's home defeat against Elche. In fact, he mentioned that ‘the players are calm because we learnt that when we were 11v11, we were reigning superior. Unfortunately, things changed after the sending-off of Darwin Núñez.’

José María Gutiérrez stated that ‘every match counts’, but the next one to be played in Soria is especially important for us ‘because we are coming from suffering a resounding defeat and two teams in high league positions are competing in the next fixture’, therefore ‘winning is of our interest to bag the three points’.

Numancia will not willingly make life easy for us on the next match. In this sense, the UD Almeria’s head coach argued that ‘they are very strong on home turf and we must take into account the conditions of the pitch depending on the weather. It is going to be a complicated and tough encounter, but this is the only way to see if a team is fighting enough to move forward and gain promotion to First Division. I expect my side to make the grade.’
