‘Until it’s not possible mathematically, Almería will give everything to the max on the pitch’

José Gomes admits that there is no room for mistakes, but he keeps automatic promotion hopes alive

‘Until it’s not possible mathematically, Almería are going to give everything to the max on the pitch,’ exclaimed UD Almeria head coach José Gomes following his team’s defeat in Zaragoza. The Portuguese recognised ‘there’s no room for mistake,’ but kept the Rojiblancos’ hopes alive to achieve automatic promotion. ‘Studying the previous seasons, two points per game would be enough. We have to make eight out of eight,’ he added.

The Lusitanian head coach cemented during his post-game analysis that his players must be ‘more efficient when crossing,’ since UD Almería have conceded a number of goals that should make us think about it.’ The players from Almeria played ‘almost always well’, in fact, perhaps because of football, they did not deserve to lose, but, as the gaffer pointed out, this sport ‘is all about goals and Real Zaragoza scored two.’

Gomes did not want to comment on the controversial action that cost the Indalicos a goal and that could be vital to have change the result. In this sense, the Portuguese pointed out: ‘We didn't lose because of the ref. We lost because we didn't score more goals and because we conceded some goals that we should’ve avoided.’
