UD Almeria put league on hold as Spanish Cup gets underway

New challenge: UD Almería visit Aguilas FC this Tuesday to play the Spanish Cup first-round tie (KO 9pm Spain Time)

The UD Almería players are now preparing themselves as the Spanish Cup gets underway. The first round single-legged tie will see Segunda RFEF Águilas FC hosting the Rojiblancos at El Rubial Stadium.

UD Almeria are to put the league on hold to focus on the Copa del Rey aka Torneo del KO, another Spanish tournament that they will start taking part in with the same responsible, positive attitude as in LaLiga SmartBank

UD Almería are actually expected to beat Águilas FC since the visitors belong to a higher tie this season, yet the Copa del Rey is rather different so anything can happen. The UD Almeria team will set out on an-hour-and-a-half journey by road and will play on a pitch of great conditions for a battling, however, there will be skilled adversaries to take on, many of them with considerable experience in the higher league, who will certainly have the strong motivation to beat the Spanish second tier current table-toppers. Both sides faced each other on the same field last summer in the pre-season with UD Almería winning 0-1 over the resilient neighbours.

The Indalicos squad have been training behind closed doors at the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium on Monday evening. This Tuesday, the day of the Cup tie, the players are getting together at noon at a hotel located in Almeria city to have lunch before heading out to Aguilas at 6pm (CET).
