UD Almería are 9 points clear of third-placed team

After Matchday 16, Real Valladolid CF will be visiting the Mediterraneo this Saturday sitting third in the table

With 16 Matchweeks down, this is how LaLiga SmartBank table looks...UD Almería have taken a new step forward on the long road that leads to their prime goal by opening the gap to 9 points over third-placed team Real Valladolid CF, who are the next rivals of the Rojiblancos that will be heading down south to visit the Mediterraneo this Saturday.

This Monday, CD Tenerife fell 1-0 to Malaga CF while UD Las Palmas suffered a defeat last Saturday. These results mean that the two Canarian teams have racked up 27 points in total, 7 behind UD Almeria. Real Valladolid are 1 point above the islanders (28 points).

UD Almería have bagged 37 points this season so far and preserve a six-point gap atop the table over second-placed SD Eibar (31). At the same time, the Indalicos have opened the gap to 9 points over the third-placed team in the Spanish Segunda Division.

As for the chasing pack, SD Ponferradina are sixth, 11 points behind UD Almería. Málaga CF, now out of the play-off spots, are 14 points adrift of the Rojiblancos.
