‘The stadium redevelopment concession is one of the biggest steps we can take as a club’

UD Almeria General Director Mohamed El Assy hopes to be able to manage and get the works at the Juegos Mediterraneos started in June

‘Being able to obtain the stadium redevelopment concession is one of the biggest steps we can take as a club’, stated UD Almeria General Director Mohamed El Assy after learning of the approval by Patronato Municipal de Deportes (Almeria Sports Board).

Mohamed El Assy is hoping to be able to manage the remodelling works in June. In point of fact, he stressed that ‘we want the fans and the citizens of Almería to be able to see the progress and enjoy the new areas that we’re going to create next season.’

Meanwhile, the UD Almeria Director acknowledged ‘we expected to get this project started earlier, but we must bear in mind that the Covid-19 pandemic and the Spanish regulations have delayed what we had in mind, especially regarding the stadium because we’ve been prepared for a year.’

Mohamed El Assy pointed out ‘we want to have the team competing in Primera Division, the stadium already remodelled and advance the development of the Academy next season which is the third campaign since we arrived. These are three of the prime objectives that we set ourselves when his excellence Turki Alalshikh acquired the Club, without forgetting the contribution of more than one million two hundred thousand euros that has been made to the Almeria society due to the pandemic.’
