Pepe Mel: "I hope we've learned from what happened in the previous home game"

'We came with very good vibes from Las Palmas and we ruined everything in just 8 minutes,' he said. Now he trusts that his team know how to compete and pluck up the courage to achieve the first victory on home soil.

UD Almería head coach Pepe Mel hopes that his team has learned from what happened in the previous match played at the Power Horse Stadium, where in a few minutes, they ruined everything. At the same time, he trusts that they now know how to compete and pluck up the courage to try to give the fans the first victory of the season on home soil.

Edgar's absence is a serious handicap for the UD Almeria squad. In fact, Pepe Mel argued in this regard: 'Any absence weakens you because there are fewer options for the head coach, but Villarreal CF are also a strong team who are great at set-pieces and there, we're going to miss a footballer like Edgar.'

In any case, the Madrid native gaffer added: 'Another team-mate will play and without problems. We don't want to make excuses, but rather focus on winning the game.' The versatile player 'finished training on Friday with knee discomfort, today we tried to get him back, but he didn't pass the test,' explained the head coach.

UD Almería have just played a good match at the Reale Arena Stadium, where they shared the spoils, although they were even close to grabbing the three points. Mr Mel pointed out: 'We shouldn't trust ourselves at all. We also had very good vibes after winning on the Canary Islands and in 8 minutes against CA Osasuna, we ruined everything. So I truly hope that we've all learned that lesson and can compete against the next opponents who usually compete in European competitions and is fighting to reach the European positions, like Real Sociedad. We have to prove our might, know who we are playing against and that the good vibes we brough in San Sebastián last over time.'

The Indálicos' head coach was questioned again about his future at the Club and stated: 'We've already talked about that. I've come to try to have a good end to the season and I'm going to focus on that, on trying to win the 7 remaining games, starting with the first one we have against Villarreal CF. If we win, we'll all be comfortable.'

Pepe Mel had heaps praise for the next visitors, highlighting their enormous potential thanks to talented footballers suck as Parejo, Gerard Moreno, Sorlok, Alex Baena... but as he stated 'regardless of who we play against, I'm insisting that UD Almería have an identity of its own, which is much more reliable, and was seen in these last few fixtures.'
