‘I cannot feel happy; after making it 0-1 we backed down’

José María Gutiérrez said that ‘This draw means a lot to us considering the reaction we had’

As soon as the match in Soria finished, José María Gutiérrez, head coach of UD Almería, spoke to UDA Radio and Dipalme Radio, the radio stations of the club and the Provincial Council. He was critical of his side. In fact, he stated that ‘I cannot be happy with the draw because after opening the scoring, we backed down and our opponents came from behind to tie. They were too close to win the game’.

The rojiblanco head coach added in this regard that ‘the tie means a lot to us considering our reaction and the Numancia’s.’

On the other hand, he pointed out that ‘we still have to improve a lot. With the ball we were not clear and without the ball we allowed the adversaries to create chances. Numancia won the duels and second balls.’

Later, José María Gutiérrez held a press conference. When he was asked about the penalty that the VAR gave and ended up in a goal scored by Numancia and the final draw, he mentioned that ‘it was crystal clear’. At the end of the game ‘I approached the ref to congratulate him on his great performance’.
