2-2: UD Almería come back from two-behind to draw with SD Huesca
Sergio Arribas, in the 81st minute, and Alex Centelles with a great goal in the 84th minute rescued a valuable point in a match that seemed doomed to defeat
UD Almería came back from two-behind in just three minutes in the dying embers of the match, a match that they had lost since in the 80th the result was 2-0 for SD Huesca, who despite playing with 10 had become strong in defence. However, the Indálicos, with tremendous faith, dedication and self-confidence, equalised on 84 minutes even having chances to win.
Head coach Rubi, as in the previous games this week (SD Huesca's was the third in 7 days) made changes and chose the players he considered most suitable depending on the rivals and the match fatigue. The starting XI had up to five new additions and also with a different system with three centre-backs (Kaiky, Edgar and Chumi) and two full-backs as wingers (Pozo and Bruno Langa). The midfield was for Lopy and Melero while Leo Baptistao, Luis Suárez and Nico Melamed linked up front.
In the first half, the Oscenses opened the scoring in a set piece and after a series of rebounds 1-0. It was the 8th minute. It was the only chance for the hosts, while UD Almería wasted a penalty taken by Luis Suárez as soon as the game started and did not capitalise on their dominance and greater possession with clear chances, like that of Bruno Langa inside 15 minutes; two at the hands of Luis Suárez in the 26th minute and in injury time... On top of that, the Huesca side were reduced to 10 men in the 35th minute due to a straight red card awarded to Diego González who made a dangerous tackle on Nico Melamed.
SD Huesca knew how to hold on. At the start of the second half Rubi made two changes. He removed central defender Kaiky and put in a new attacking player, Arribas, in addition to taking Centelles on the left wing to replace Bruno Langa, who was issued a yellow card. A lot of attacking potential in search of a leveller, but in the 55th minute, things became even more complicated with the score at 2-0. The VAR informed the referee of a handball by Centelles inside the box four minutes after the play. Vilarrasa slotted home, and the encounter became really difficult despite SD Huesca playing with 10 because they became strong at the back.
Arnau Puigmal and Rachad came on in the 64th minute so Pozo and Nico Melamed were benched. UD Almería went all out because they had no other choice. The Indálicos were in charge, but it was impossible to overcome the opponents who defended very well. Aside from that, the players were not good at completing the plays. They did not have the effectiveness of previous collective plays, and thus it was difficult to tear down the Huesca wall. But in the 81st minute, Arribas, inside the area, got hold of the ball and pulled one back... Three minutes later, in the 84th minute, Alex Centelles grabbed the great equaliser booted from the edge of the box.
Although UD Almería continued to dig in and began to approach victory, they rescued a valuable away point in the end.
